Responsibilities for Farm Assistant Worker:
The responsibilities for the job of Farm Assistant Workers are as following.
- Assisting with canopy structure maintenance, including repair of posts, wires, trellis, and other orchard infrastructure
- Operating hand tools, power tools, and light equipment for orchard upkeep
- Performing seasonal tasks such as spraying, mulching, mowing, weed control, and irrigation checks
- Repairing sprinkler systems, broken pipe fittings, and other irrigation equipment
- Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing buildings, yards, and fences
- Assisting in irrigating land to promote healthy crop growth
- Reporting hazards, infrastructure damage, and operational issues to supervisors
- Assisting in material movement, stock rotation, and maintaining site cleanliness
- Operating farm machinery and driving tractors for orchard maintenance tasks
- Following all health and safety, biosecurity, and operational guidelines
Requirements for Farm Assistant Worker:
The requirements for the job of Farm Assistant Workers are as following.
- Experience: At least 12 months of relevant farm or orchard work; or a Level 2 or 3 qualification (or higher) in horticulture or related field
- Physical Fitness: Able to perform physically demanding outdoor tasks in all weather conditions
- Work Authorization: Must have a valid work visa or Canadian residency/citizenship (sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate)
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a varied schedule between Monday and Sunday
Skills and Knowledge Desired:
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and light farming equipment
- Knowledge of orchard maintenance techniques and irrigation systems
- Ability to identify and report hazards or maintenance needs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Problem-solving skills for equipment and infrastructure repairs
